Trinidad and Tobago: Ministry of Education identifies learning disabilities as possible factor in SEA performance

Resumen: El Ministro de Educación está aconsejando a los padres a tener en cuenta los signos tempranos de problemas de aprendizaje. Al hablar con los miembros de los medios de comunicación el miércoles, el Dr. Francis dijo que algunos estudiantes no son capaces de manejar Lenguaje y Matemática básica a nivel de escuela primaria. Al respecto señaló que los bajos resultados en los exámenes son motivo de preocupación por lo que está aconsejando a los padres a tener en cuenta los signos tempranos de problemas de aprendizaje. Al hablar con los miembros de los medios de comunicación el miércoles, el Dr. Francis dijo que algunos estudiantes no son capaces de manejar nociones básicas a nivel de escuela primaria de Lenguaje y Matemática  .

Speaking with members of the media on Wednesday, Dr. Francis said some students are unable to handle basic Language and Mathematics at the Primary school level.

Dr. Francis says the low scores at the SEA exams are cause for concern.

Dr. Lovell did however add that the Ministry can do a lot more with focusing on the schools which do not excel as much as others.

He said that this current issue has proven to be a major crisis.

The Minister in the Ministry Of Education is advising parents to look out for early signs of learning disabilities.
