África: Los maestros  usan el  espectáculo  solar  eclipse para enseñar a los estudiantes

Resumen:

Se presenta una  increíble sesión educativa para los estudiantes de varias escuelas en Kigali , donde se  reunieron maestros y estudiantes en la Universidad de la Facultad de Educación de Ruanda, con el objeto de observar el  eclipse solar parcial. Durante su aparición, el Dr. Phenias Nkundabakura, un especialista en astronomía enseña a los estudiantes sobre el eclipse solar, señalando que era un fenómeno científico.Expresó que : «Los eclipses solares ocurren cuando la luna se mueve entre el sol y la tierra, bloqueando el disco del sol y proyectando una sombra sobre la tierra».

The display of solar eclipse presented an amazing educative session for students from various schools in Kigali who gathered at the University of Rwanda’s College of Education, yesterday.

The partial solar eclipse was visible in Rwanda, across central Africa, Middle East and some other parts of the world.

During its occurence, Dr Phenias Nkundabakura, a specialist in astronomy taught students about solar eclipse, noting that it was a scientific phenomenon.

«Solar eclipses happen when the moon moves between the sun and earth, blocking the sun’s disk and casting a shadow on earth,» he explained.

He told students that the moon is not a primary source of light and is opaque.

The angular diameter of the moon is almost equal to the angular diameter of the sun, and during the solar eclipse process, the event allows for the viewing of the atmosphere of the sun, according to Nkundabakura.

Speaking to the media, Nkundabakura said the incident offered the perfect opportunity to explain to students the phenomenon of eclipses.

«Explaining scientific facts about eclipses as students watch and follow the succession of changes helps them to know the truth about science and its experiments,» he said.

Diana Kabasinga, a Senior Three student at Saint Paul International School, said she had learned about the solar and moon eclipses, and types of eclipse; partial, annular and total eclipses.

«I’m excited because I have been studying them theoretically, and I had never seen them, so today I have seen it live and I can even explain to those who have not got a chance to witness this incredible incident,» she said.

«I have even got some lectures about the disadvantages of looking at the sun directly which can cause blindness,» she added.

Cedrick Migambi, another student, said the knowledge he acquired by witnessing the occurence of the eclipse will help him understand better what he had been studying in class about eclipses.

Migambi said it was a chance to learn more about the things that happen in the universe.

«I cannot say that it is the beginning of my journey to study astronomy but it was an opportunity that opened my mind to questions on the nature of everything that are not easily seen,» he said.

Jean Pierre Twagirayezu, a Physics teacher at Saint Paul International School, said it was an interesting opportunity for both students and science teachers to view the solar eclipse.

«It is complicated to teach sciences to students who haven’t got some experience about certain things, but when you are telling them what they have seen, it becomes easier, so we are glad this is happening,» he said.

According to Nkundabakura, the solar eclipse occurred at the time it was expected, from 8:45am to 12:22pm.

Nkundabakura said that 2000 eclipse glasses were distributed in different schools with about 10,000 students hoped to have got the opportunity to watch safely the solar eclipse.

People are warned not to look directly into the sun for long time with naked eyes, or use smoked glasses, colour film, sun glasses and polarising filters as they are not safe.

According to Nkundabakura, before yesterday, the previous solar eclipse to have been seen in Rwanda was in November 2013.

AR/VR Garage set to turn Auckland into a virtual reality innovation hub

New Zealand’s ability to produce more augmented and virtual reality content has become much stronger, after the launch of a dedicated facility in Auckland last week.

AR/VR Garage, situated in Auckland Council’s GridAKL innovation hub in Eden Terrace, will be a focal point for game development, animation, education and digital media projects. The developers believe the Garage will boost jobs, innovation, investment and the country’s overall digital footprint.

Len Brown was alongside Minister for Economic Development Steven Joyce, helped to officially open the facility.

“This technology will probably influence all industry within the next five years. So I’m delighted that Auckland has seized the opportunity to catch this wave. The Garage encapsulates why Auckland was recognised this year by JLL in its top 20 cities of momentum,» Brown says.

The Garage has been touted as the basis for becoming an ‘international hub’ for AR and VR technology and will become the Oceania base for VR Society, a US-based organisation that is bridging global connections in the industry.

The society has been a powerful force, having facilitated US$170 million in VR project funding for its members worldwide.

The new garage is also attracting attention from another US-based company, the VR/AR Association. The International Game Developers Association will also have a ‘presence’ in the facility, highlighting the interest and importance of this kind of technology in New Zealand.

“It’s fantastic to see this innovation space directly result from high-level connections forged through the first two years of Auckland’s Tripartite Economic Alliance with Los Angeles and Guangzhou. Having gone from concept to reality in just three months, it shows council can identify and swiftly seize growth opportunities, and lead a project involving diverse partners to drive Auckland’s high-tech economic transformation,» Brown continues.

The Garage has been developed through this year’s Tripartite Economic Summit Auckland and Techweek AKL Magnify VR/AR Pacific Summit. So far the facility has attracted ten tenants, with an additional 10 expected to reside in the Garage by October.

The innovation hub as a whole brings together local and global industry, corporates, educational institutions and government agencies, which according to Auckland Council, is a model that is unlike any other on the planet.

“The VR Society is thrilled with the opportunity to participate in this important initiative, not just for Auckland, but for New Zealand’s digital manufacturing sector. As the leading VR organisation in Hollywood, the society is well aware of New Zealand’s reputation for high quality content creation,» says Jonas Hudson, VR Society board member and advisor to the AR/VR Garage.

The VR/AR Garage will also play a part in contributing to large film studios such as Walt Disney, Pixar and Marvel – all major industry players. ATEED CEO Brett O’Riley believes the garage will be a major method of showcasing work to investors and industry.

“While the Garage is a great boost for Auckland’s world-leading screen, digital and creative content industries, VR is becoming a crucial enabling platform for a whole range of sectors, including skills training and education. The future is definitely now,» O’Riley says.

The first industry corporate to join the AR/VR Garage is Datacom, which looks to expand services for its customers interested in the area.

«We’re seeing real interest from companies wanting to know more about augmented, virtual and mixed reality with some of our own customers already actively prototyping. The Garage is an excellent way to develop a safe environment to test potential AR use cases and to use the strength of GridAKL to tap into new groups of early adopters to engage with the AR ecosystem,» comments Greg Davidson, Datacom NZ CEO.

Auckland Council has ‘initially’ invested more than $20 million over a decade in the GridAKL project, designed to help Auckland’s innovation community.

ONU denuncia desplazamiento de 362 personas en Colombia

La razón del desplazamiento en el noreste de Colombia es los constantes enfrentamientos entre las autoridades y un grupo armado ilegal.

La Oficina de la ONU para la Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios (OCHA) advirtió este domingo (04.09.2016) que en el noreste de Colombia se presentó el desplazamiento de 362 personas, entre ellas 154 menores de edad, como consecuencia de los enfrentamientos entre las autoridades y un grupo armado ilegal.

Según el reporte del organismo internacional, el pasado «11 de agosto 362 personas, entre ellas 83 mujeres, 125 hombres y 154 menores de edad del corregimiento Las Mercedes, en el municipio de Sardinata, se desplazaron».

La razón del desplazamiento en la localidad que hace parte del departamento de Norte de Santander, fronterizo con Venezuela, es el enfrentamiento armado constante que se presenta «desde el mes de julio entre la Policía Nacional y un grupo armado no estatal».

Niños tuvieron que suspender clases

Dichos desplazados, precisó la OCHA, «llegaron a casas de familiares o amigos». Producto de las hostilidades, aproximadamente 515 niños tuvieron que suspender sus clases por un periodo de 10 días en el colegio local.

El pasado 1 de septiembre tuvo lugar el más reciente enfrentamiento que, dijo la OCHA, «obligó nuevamente a diez familias a pernoctar en barrios aledaños».

Hasta el momento unas 33 viviendas ubicadas alrededor de la estación de Policía han resultado afectadas al recibir disparos en sus techos.

Asia: Myanmar . concluye primera conferencia de paz

La conferencia marcó el inicio de un proceso de paz que debe continuar en marzo de 2017.

Resumen:

Se hace referencia que en Myanmar se concluyó la primera conferencia de paz celebrada en casi 70 años para poner fin a las luchas independentistas de varios grupos étnicos en este país del sureste asiático. Tal como se esperaba, los más de 1.600 delegados del Ejército, el Gobierno y los grupos armados étnicos no lograron acuerdos concretos. La conferencia fue convocada por  iniciativa de la ministra de Relaciones Exteriores  de Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi. Tras la victoria electoral de su Liga Nacional para la democracia, la premio Nobel de la Paz había formado en abril el primer Gobierno civil en el país en más de 50 años. Myanmar fue una dictadura militar de 1962 a 2011. Donde señalan que : «Es muy importante que nos comprometamos a avanzar con coraje, no por el bien de un individuo o de un grupo étnico, sino por el bien de todo el país». La dirigente birmana reiteró el compromiso de su Gobierno a establecer una paz duradera con todas las nacionalidades del país. Suu Kyi reconoció que «alcanzar la paz es muy difícil», pero insistió en que es posible y que si Birmania es capaz de lograrlo, ofrecerá esperanza a otros países con los mismos problemas.

Myanmar: first peace conference concludes

In Myanmar she concluded today (09/03/2016) the first peace conference held in almost 70 years to end the independence struggles of various ethnic groups in this Southeast Asian country. As expected, more than 1,600 delegates from the army, the government and ethnic armed groups did not achieve concrete agreements.

The conference was convened at the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and «strong woman» of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi. Following the election victory of the National League for Democracy, the Nobel Peace Prize was formed in April the first civilian government in the country in more than 50 years.Myanmar was a military dictatorship from 1962 to 2011.

» It is very important that we commit to move forward with courage, not for the sake of an individual or of an ethnic group, but for the sake of the whole country , » said Suu Kyi, head of the peace process, according to local newspaper Myanmar Times.Suu Kyi stressed the «crucial importance» to possess the ability to move and to «work together to find solutions,» because «it depends on each one if you want to stay stuck in the past and face the future».

The Burmese leader reiterated the commitment of his Government to establish a lasting peace with all nationalities in the country. Suu Kyi acknowledged that «achieving peace is very difficult» but insisted that it is possible and that if Burma is able to do, give hope to other countries with the same problems.

historic meeting

The Executive and ethnic minorities inaugurated last this historic meeting called Panglong 2 and organized to route the peace process after decades of armed conflict on Wednesday. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, attended the opening session of the conference to which were invited some 1,800 people, including representatives from government, military, ethnic groups and guerrillas, political parties, civil groups and international observers.

Greater autonomy and an end to discrimination is the main claim of almost all minorities, including Chin, Kachin, Karen, Kokang, Kayah, Mon, rakáin, Shan and Wa, and which together represent more than 30 percent of the 48 million people in the country.

Vecinos organizados en México mandan un mensaje de resistencia y unidad con los demás movimientos sociales del mundo.

 

 

Los vecinos organizados de Copilco envían un mensaje de lucha y unidad a todos los movimientos en defensa del territorio de la ciudad y el campo de México y el mundo. Tras la imposición del mega-proyecto “Grupo Imagen Multimedia” que incluye un helipuerto, una antena de 60 metros, transmisores eléctricos y varias estaciones de combustibles inflamables a unos cuantos metros de varias unidades habitacionales cercanas, se afectará la salud y tranquilidad de más de 25,000 personas de la zona, además de que está latente el riesgo de explosión al haberse construido -sin los permisos necesarios- las instalaciones de esta televisora encima de algunos ductos de gas natural y de PEMEX.

“Que sepan las autoridades y las empresas que ya no nos vamos a dejar, no seguirán depredando con ilegalidad, opacidad y a su antojo la ciudad”.

Día Internacional de la MUJER Indígena

El lunes 5 es el día mundial de la MUJER Indígena

Ni Patriarcado, Ni machismo, Ni Colonialismo, Ni Racismo, Ni Capitalismo…

una fecha determinada por organizaciones de mujeres indígenas, que rememora a Bartolina Sisa, una de las guerreras aymaras que lideraron la rebelión contra la colonia española en el cerco a Chuquiago, actual La Paz-de Bolivia.

Además, del gran reconocimiento a Bartolina Sisa, este día es un homenaje a miles de mujeres que como ella murieron en su lucha contra la discriminación y los abusos cometidos a las mujeres indígenas a lo largo de la historia.

Un día para festejar las luchas, los logros, la identidad.

Las mujeres indígenas juegan un papel sustancial para lograr que sobreviva la cultura de los pueblos indígenas y gracias a ellas perduran las costumbres propias, la transmisión de los conocimientos a sus descendientes así como su lucha constante e insistente contra la exclusión étnico-cultural.

Este día sirve para visibilizar ante el mundo la situación de los pueblos y las mujeres indígenas y como reclamo para que los gobiernos tomen conciencia de sus obligaciones por hacer valer los DD HH y se acaben las exclusiones.

Distintas organizaciones luchan para que tengan los mismos derechos, oportunidades de vivir y desarrollarse como el resto de poblaciones. Los esfuerzos también van dirigidos hacia la mejora de vida de las mujeres indígenas para que puedan gozar de libertad y vivan en plenitud sus derechos, cultura y autonomía.

El 5 de septiembre, en memoria del cruel asesinato de Bartolina Sisa, comandanta y cabeza del mayor levantamiento aymara contra la corona española, se celebra el Día Internacional de la Mujer Indígena. A 234 años de su muerte, las originarias de Nuestra América siguen su ejemplo de lucha, tesón y rebeldía contra la opresión.

“Este un Día especial, no para alegrarnos por los sucesos del pasado, sino para conmemorar la Lucha de nuestras hermanas, Rememorar mujeres como Bartolina Sisa y recordar a las tantas Mujeres que han entregado la vida por la defensa de sus Pueblos Indígenas, y por la lucha diaria de las Mujeres por conservar nuestro legado milenario de guardianas de Vida.”

Cualquier proceso de descolonización debe entenderse como una disputa con las estructuras coloniales de poder y persigue una redistribución de ese poder en favor de quienes históricamente han sido sojuzgados: no puede haber descolonización sin proceso paralelo de despatriarcalización y su inversa, es decir, no puede darse un verdadero y real proceso de despatriarcalización si no se opera a la vez el necesario proceso de descolonización.

Este 5 de septiembre.. sucede pocas horas después de que se cumplan 6 meses del asesinato de Berta Cáceres: resistente al golpe de estado en Honduras, feminista, lideresa indígena del pueblo lenca, defensora de la vida, Berta encarna valores similares a los de Bartolina Sisa, en la rebelión contra las injusticias y en la defensa de la Mama Tierra .

‘Nuevas caras, nuevas voces’ está finalizando los planes para un fondo de inversión de las mujeres se espera invertir $ 20 millones (aproximadamente Rwf16bn) para apoyar a las mujeres que han estado enfrentando acurruca en su búsqueda para tener acceso a las finanzas.

«Hay varios problemas que experimentan las mujeres en su intento de acceder a la financiación; vamos a ver cómo este fondo puede ayudar a resolver tales También estaremos buscando la forma en el fondo puede ser financieramente rentable, ya que estaremos invirtiendo dinero de la gente es.. debe haber una manera para las mujeres para invertir y obtener ganancias, sino también una solución a otros problemas que pueden tener, «Nsanzabaganwa, que es también el vice gobernador del Banco Nacional de Ruanda, dijo.

Dijo que el dinero se obtiene de las acciones compradas a la empresa y una cuarta parte de este dinero, que es aproximadamente Rwf4 millones de dólares, se extraerán de las mujeres.

Una parte va para RWF1, 000, pero se pueden comprar en base a su capacidad financiera «, dijo Nsanzabaganwa.

Al final de la sesión de información, la cabeza del banco de la equidad de marketing y comunicación, Athanasie Niragira, reconoció que las mujeres se enfrentan a varios retos en la búsqueda de los servicios financieros.

«La mayoría de estas mujeres comienzan a las empresas, pero que carecen de la información y la formación que se requiere y esto hace que sea difícil para ellos para llegar a los planes de negocio. Un estudio realizado por FinScope en 2008 indicó que sólo el 21 por ciento de los ruandeses fueron incluidos económicamente de una manera formal. Otro estudio realizado por la misma empresa, realizado en 2012, mostró que el porcentaje se había duplicado al 42 por ciento.

Rwanda: ‘New Face, New Voices’ to Invest Rwf16bn in Women Fund

‘New Faces, New Voices’ is finalising plans for a women investment fund expected to invest $20 million (about Rwf16bn) to support women who have been facing huddles in their pursuit to access finances.

Launched in Rwanda in June, last year, New Faces, New Voices is a Pan-African advocacy group that focuses on expanding the role and influence of women in the financial sector.

The Chairperson of New Faces, New Voices in Rwanda, Dr Monique Nsanzabaganwa, yesterday, told officials from various financial institutions that the Women Investment Fund would support women who are interested in investment.

«There are various problems that women experience as they try to access finance; we will look at how this fund can help to resolve such. We will also be looking at how the fund can be financially profitable because we will be investing people’s money. It should be a way for women to invest and make profits but also a solution to other issues she may have,» Nsanzabaganwa, who is also the vice governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, said.

She said the money will be sourced from the shares bought from the company and a quarter of this money, which is about Rwf4 billion, will be sourced from women.

‘Women struggle to get funding’

Nsanzabaganwa said the rest of the fund will be sourced from institutions that are used to investing in such funds, from individuals that support investment ventures, government and other stakeholders.

«We are currently 1000 members but we started out when we were only 18. Since March, women started buying shares and, so far, the shares bought are worth about Rwf80 million and we encourage many more to register. A share goes for Rwf1,000, but you can buy based on your financial ability,» Nsanzabaganwa said.

At the end of the briefing session, Equity Bank’s head of marketing and communication, Athanasie Niragira, acknowledged that women face several challenges when seeking financial services.

«Most of these women start businesses but they lack the information and training that is required and this makes it difficult for them to come up with business plans. There is also an issue of lack of collateral that all banks require before they issue a loan to the applicant. These are the biggest challenges so far,» Niragira said.

Comparing access to finance and information gaps, Niragira said there is still a big difference because men were more, adding that though they receive fewer women, the numbers are improving.

A study done by FinScope in 2008 indicated that only 21 per cent of Rwandans were financially included in a formal way. Another study by the same company, done in 2012, showed that the percentage had doubled to 42 per cent.
