RESUMEN: Primera Dama Esther Lungu dice que existe la necesidad de llegar a las intervenciones apropiadas para que los niños comienzan a acceder a la sexualidad con enfoque de género y la educación reproductiva. Sra Lungu dice que la educación debe ser científicamente exacto, cultural y apropiada para su edad. Dice que la desaparición de los valores tradicionales dan como resultados, junto con los avances tecnológicos que los niños reciban información inadecuada sobre temas de sexualidad.
First Lady Esther Lungu says there is need to come up with appropriate interventions for children to start accessing gender sensitive sexuality and reproductive education.
Mrs Lungu says education should be scientifically accurate, culturally and age-appropriate.
The First Lady says this will help children make informed decisions about their sexuality and lifestyle.
She says the disappearance of valuable traditional arrangements coupled with technological advancements results in children getting inappropriate information on sexuality issues.
Mrs. Lungu says it is anticipated that with the right information and skills youths will not get pregnant when they are not ready.
She said this through her representative, Fridah Kazembe at the 17th General Assembly of the Organization of African First Ladies Against HIV/AIDS -OAFLA- in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Assembly was held under the theme, Advancing Sustainable Partnerships to end pediatric AIDS and improve Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.
