Resumen: El NIOS (Instituto Nacional de Educación Abierta) ofrecerá una extensión del servicio educativo a los estudiantes indios de Omán, que no pueden hacer frente a la educación principal. Hablando en la ocasión, Ajayan Poyyara, Presidente, SMC dijo que ISD está entrando en su vigésimo quinto año de existencia y un servicio extendido agregado sería un logro. NIOS es un sistema flexible de educación que tiene como objetivo proporcionar a los estudiantes el tiempo, el espacio y la oportunidad de aprender de acuerdo a sus necesidades y requerimientos. La escuela tiene el privilegio de cumplir con su obligación social a través de NIOS. El Dr. Sridevi P. Thashnath, Director, ISD y el Coordinador de NIOS proporcionaron una visión de Open Schooling a través de una presentación sobre «NIOS – Mitos y Hechos». También agregó que ISD tuvo el privilegio de asumir la Educación Abierta como un compromiso social en su año de jubileo de plata de establecimiento y de reiterar su dedicación al proporcionar un servicio añadido a los Niños de la Diáspora. También reconoció la oportuna orientación y directrices de la Junta de Directores, las Escuelas de la India en Omán y el firme apoyo brindado por el Comité de Gestión de la Escuela para hacer realidad este sueño.

A system of Open Schooling has been launched by the Indian School Darsait.

The NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) will offer an extension of educational service to Indian students across Oman, who are unable to cope with main stream education.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajayan Poyyara, President, SMC said that ISD is entering its 25^th year of existence and an added extended service would be an achievement.

NIOS is a flexible system of education that aims to provide students with the ample time, space and opportunity to learn according to their needs and requirements. The school is privileged to fulfill its social obligation through NIOS.

Dr. Sridevi P. Thashnath, Principal, ISD and NIOS Coordinator provided an insight into Open Schooling through a presentation on “NIOS – Myths and Facts”.

She also added that ISD was privileged to take up Open Schooling as a social commitment in its silver jubilee year of establishment and to reiterate its dedication by providing an added service to the Diaspora Children.

She also acknowledged the timely guidance and directives from the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman and the staunch support extended by the School Management Committee in making this dream a reality.
