India: Learn about scope for higher education in Japan at fair today

IN a move to encourage Indian students to study Japanese language and pursue higher studies in Japan, in a first, a Japan Education Fair will be organised at YVS Murthy Auditorium, from 9 am to 12 noon, on Tuesday, announced first secretary of Embassy of Japan, Daisuke Kodama, at a media meet here on Monday.

The fair is being organised in collaboration with Embassy of Japan in India, the University of Tokyo and Japan Science and Technology Agency.

“We welcome Indian students to study in Japan which offers lot of opportunities in the field of research and Information Technology,” the first secretary said. Japan, the third largest economy in the world, with 54 of its companies in the Forbes Global 500, has around 800 universities and 18 national universities, he added.

Canvassing for Japanese universities, Daisuke Kodama said Japan is one of the safest countries with the second lowest crime rate in the world. “We show no discrimination towards foreign students. On an average, it costs about `3.54 lakh to pursue higher education for two years and scholarships are also provided to meritorious candidates.

Japan Science and Technology Agency also provides a Sakura Exchange Programme in science which facilitates students to visit Japan and experience the country’s state-of-the-art science and technology on ‘Sakura Science Plan’.

Students from all colleges in and around the city can participate and to know about education and research in Japan. The students will also be shown a video show of Shinkansen high-speed railway system in Japan at the fair, the authorities informed.
