Programs and Conference
NACSA offers solutions-focused programming to support current authorizers, develop leaders in the field, and introduce talented students to the profession.
Leaders
The NACSA Leaders Program is the nation’s only professional development opportunity for current and upcoming leaders in charter school authorizing offices. Throughout the Program, Leaders engage in a hands-on learning environment where they explore best practices with their peers for use in their own offices, and what it means to lead in a dynamic public education environment. NACSA invites current and emerging leaders in authorizing offices around the country to apply for this unique opportunity. Leaders are required to attend five in-person sessions.
Fellows
The NACSA Innovation in Education Fellowship introduces emerging leaders to charter school authorizing and gives graduate school students a chance to apply their learning immediately in an on-the-job setting. NACSA, in partnership with the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and Minnesota charter school authorizers, places students in paid, yearlong fellowships. This experience prepares Fellows to be change agents and effective leaders in their careers.
NACSA’s Leadership Conference
The NACSA Annual Leadership Conference is the only national conference dedicated to quality charter school authorizing.
The conference’s audience consists of charter school authorizers from around the country, which includes leaders of state education agencies, local school districts, independent charter boards, university authorizing offices, among others. In addition to authorizers, the conference hosts journalists, education reform organizations and public officials from across the country.
NACSA seeks to create an environment conducive to learning and sharing. While more than 400 people attend annually, the conference has retained an intimate feel. NACSA does not offer a “show floor” or emphasize vendor options.
By authorizers, for authorizers.
